During the month of June, Laveen Child Nutrition Services will be serving free breakfast and
lunch take & bake-style meals to children in the Laveen community at all nine Laveen schools.
Children 18 years and younger may pick up a nutritious breakfast and lunch over the summer break. All kids’ meals are free. There are no income requirements and you do not need to register. Children do not need to be enrolled in a Laveen school to participate. The summer meal program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Beginning on May 31, 2022, and running through June 30, meals will be distributed curbside daily Monday- Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Desert Meadows will be distributing meals Monday – Friday, also from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Each distribution will include breakfast and lunch. Meals will be served cold with take-and-bake instructions.
Meals are available to all children under the age of 18. We ask that your children accompany you to pick up meals or that you display the parent pickup placard in your vehicle. Participants will be asked to complete and display a Parent/Guardian Pickup Placard provided on their first day of meal service.
For the most up-to-date summer menus, nutrition information, and allergens please visit Nutrislice.
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
All school and district offices will operate on a summer schedule starting on May 20 and running through July 22.
All offices will be open Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. except on holidays. All offices will be closed on Fridays throughout the summer months.
You can reduce the amount you owe in state taxes by making a donation to Laveen schools through Arizona’s Public School Tax Credit Program. Tax credit contributions may only be used to support character education and fee-based extracurricular activities such as after-school tutoring and clubs, academic enrichment, field trips, fine art programs, and athletics.
For every dollar you donate, the amount you owe on your Arizona taxes will be that much less. This means you can reduce the amount you owe before the deadline or increase the amount of your refund if you have tax liabilities for 2021. If you do not owe taxes, the amount you donate may be carried forward for up to five years to offset future tax liabilities. For example, if a single person owes $300 on their state taxes for 2021 and donates the maximum amount of $200, they will then only owe the state $100.
Couples filing jointly may donate any amount up to $400. Individuals may contribute up to $200.
The deadline to donate and claim a tax credit on your 2021 taxes is April 18, 2022.

On February 25 the CDC released new guidance stating masks are no longer necessary unless the local community is experiencing a high level of transmission or the healthcare system is seeing a significant increase in hospitalizations. Maricopa County is one of four Arizona counties that have dropped below the high-risk threshold and is currently in the “Medium” risk category.
This means that effective Monday, February 28, masks are no longer required in our schools or on our school buses, regardless of vaccination status. Students and staff may continue to wear a mask if they so choose.
Visit our Safe Return to School page for more information Laveen’s response to COVID-19.
